Slate Mining, in Wales
Slate Mining flourished during the 19th century within Wales and many towns and industries began because of this success.
Slate is common within the mountains of Snowdonia and the evidence of the mining can be seen most prominently within the town of Blaenau Ffestiniog. Visitors should take a tour of the Llechwedd Slate Caverns to discover the history of the industry and its effects on the economy of North Wales.
