Trefriw Woollen Mills

The Trefriw Woollen Mills are located in the village of Trefriw in the Conwy Valley in North Wales. They are specialists in traditional welsh bedspreads, tweeds, and travelling rugs.

The factory is open to visitors who can see the manufacturing process in action. The Mill Shop stocks a wide range of goods manufactured at the Mill. Visitors can also view the hydro-electric turbines used to operate the looms before enjoying a relaxing drink and some bara brith in the tearooms.

History of Trefriw Woollen Mills

The Trefriw Woollen Mills began operating in 1829 and was built on the fast flowing River Crafnant which operated the water wheels and was used to wash the wool. The business was bought by Thomas Williams in 1859 and has been operated by the same family ever since.
