Early History 10,000 BC - 43 AD
Humans have lived within Wales since the end of the last Ice Age. Evidence of their existance can be found in many places with the Great Orme Copper Mines being one of the best.The Romans 43 AD - 400 AD
The Romans invaded Britain in 43 AD and proceeded to conquer the lands. While southern areas of England were quickly conquered it took a further 30 years for the Romans to conquer Wales.Early Welsh Princes
From the period of 400 AD to 1070 AD Wales remained an independent country divided into separate regions each ruled by a lord.The Invasions of the Normans
Beginning in 1070 AD the Normans first began to invade Wales and continued to do so for the next quarter of a century. During this time the first castles began to appear. In 1105 AD national boundaries were established between the Welsh and and Norman lands.In the year 1200 AD Llywelyn the Great succeeds to the throne of Gwynedd. Over the next 40 years he came to dominate the country. In 1258 AD Llywelyn ap Gruffudd ascended to the throne.
The Invasions of the English
In 1277 AD King Edward I of England invades Gwynedd. As part of this invasion he built a ring of castles in order to ensure that the Welsh could not rise up again, however this was unsuccessful and in 1282 AD the English invaded for a second time.Add your pictures to this article
