Slate
Once one of Wales' main industries the trade flourished during the 19th century but has slowly declined over the intervening years.
Today many former mines can be visited as tourist attractions. One example of such is the Inigo Jones mine in Llanberis and another is the Llechwedd Slate Caverns at Blaenau Ffestiniog.
