North WalesNorth Wales offers both a wide variety of attractions for tourists and facilities for locals. The area is noted for its natural beauty and stuning coastline. North Wales is easily reached by either road or rail and is just an hour from Manchester and Liverpool airports. North Wales covers the counties of Wrexham, Flintshire, Denbighshire, Conwy, Gwynedd, and Anglesey and is a popular tourist destination from visitors around the world. The region is often better divided in the regions of North Wales Borderlands, North Wales Coast, Snowdonia, and the Llyn Peninsula. Llandudno is North Wales largest tourist resort and serves as an ideal base to explore the region. Visitor attractions within North Wales include the Snowdonia National Park which offers truly beautiful scenery and is a popular destination with both walkers and climbers. For the older generation the region is also home to Portmeirion which is famous as the location of the television series The Prisoner. This small model village lies just to the south of Porthmadog and is renowned for its beautiful location and Italiante designs.
