Mid Wales

Mid Wales covers a geographic area from the southern slopes of the Snowdonia National Park to the northern slopes of the Brecon Beacons National Park. Along the way are some of Wales best known towns including, Aberystwyth home of the University of Wales, and Machynlleth where Owain Glyndwr began his rebellion against the English.

Further south is the holiday town of Aberaeron and inland Llandrindod Wells, Builth Wells, and Welshpool. The region contains the counties of Powys and Ceredigion.

Most visitors to Wales don't usually consider Mid Wales when planning a holiday or short trip but to do so would be to miss out on some of Wales finest attractions including The Royal Welsh Show held annually each year in the town of Builth Wells. Machynlleth is home to the Centre for Alternative Technology as well as Celtica and Welshpool has Powis Castle and the Welshpool and Llanfair Light Railway.

To the south are the magnificent Brecon Beacons home to a national park and the town of Brecon. Visit the Brecon Beacons National Park Visitor Centre as well as the South Wales Borderers Museum.
