Llanrwst, Conwy Valley, North Wales
Llanrwst is a small market town located deep within the Conwy Valley, in the county of Conwy, and just three miles from the edge of the Snowdonia National Park. The town straddles both the A470 road and Conwy River. Llanrwst lies approximately 15 miles south of the popular tourist towns of Llandudno and Conwy. Llanrwst's most famous landmark is the Pont Fawr bridge that crosses the river Conwy. Equally charming is the Tu-hwnt-i'r-bont tea rooms located just across the bridge that are owned by the National Trust. Llanrwst is sometimes misspelt as Llanwrst.
Lancaster Square is the towns main shopping area and a walk along the high street reveals many local shops to browse and buy in.
Places to Stay in Llanrwst
Whilst not a major tourist destination the town of Llanrwst is a charming location to stay in that offers all the peace of the Conwy Valley whilst being far enough away from the main tourist destinations. The popular towns of Betws-y-Coed, Conwy, and Llandudno are all within easy reach as is the North Wales Coast and Snowdonia National Park. The town boasts two large hotels, The Meadowsweet Hotel and The Eagles Hotel, which both offer and ideal location to stay.Getting There
You can visit Llanrwst either by road of rail. The main A470 road travels the length of the Conwy Valley and passes through the centre of the town. From the north leave the A55 expressway and travel south along the A470 for approximately 12 miles. From the south journey north from Betws-y-Coed for approximately 6 miles. There isn't a great deal of parking spaces but if you cross the river via the Pont Fawr bridge car parking spaces are available. By rail you take the Conwy Valley rail line from either Betws-y-Coed train station or Llandudno Junction. There is a station at Llanwrst but check that the train will actually be stopping there as not all of them do.More Information
