Llanfair Pwllgwyngyll
Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch, or Llanfair Pwllgwyngyll to give it its shorter name, has the longest town name in Europe which translated into English means "Saint Mary's Church in the hollow of white hazel near a rapid whirlpool and the Church of Saint Tysilio near the red cave".
It is believed that the name of the town was invented by a cobbler from Menai Bridge who was part of a committee which was set up in the 1850s in order to encourage trains and travellers to the area.
The village lies just off the A55 on the Isle of Anglesey after crossing the Britannia Bridge.
