Llandudno PierThe present Llandudno Pier was opened to the public in 1877 and dominates the view of the bay from the promenade. The pier was originally 1,234ft (376m) in length but was extended in 1891 with a landing stage which extended the overall length to 2,295ft (695m). In 1935 the landing stage was rebuilt with the old iron pillars being replaced with a permanent stone structure. Today the pier hosts a number of attractions such as small kiosks and amusement arcades. The Grand Hotel sits alongside the pier at the end of the landing stage. A walk down the pier offers wonderful views of the Bay of Llandudno and the two Orme's, The Little Orme and The Great Orme, as well as beyond along the coast to Rhyl. Today Llandudno Pier is a Grade II listed building under the ownership of The Trust House Forte Group. In 1994 the Pier Pavillion was destroyed by fire and was subsequently demolished. The pavillion had been closed in 1990 but prior to this had successfully hosted events, conferences, and shows since 1886.
