Llandudno Cable Car Wins Tourism Award

One of Llandudno's best tourist attractions is celebrating after being quality accredited.

Llandudno's Great Orme cable cars glide silently from Happy Valley to the Great Orme summit as visitors experience breathtaking views of Llandudno, the Little Orme, Conwy estuary and beyond.

The popular tourist attraction is the longest passenger cable car system in Britain.

Owner Andrew Jones, who purchased the attraction in 2006, said it had been his ambition from a young age to own the cable cars.

"Being an accredited tourist attraction is a great reward for all the investment and hard work which had gone into keeping the ride up to standard," he said.

"It means a lot to the whole team because it's not just the ride itself being accredited, it's the staff, the service, the buildings, and the price, which we have kept the same as last year."

"It's the whole visitor experience which has been given the thumbs up by Visitor Attraction Quality Assurance Scheme Cymru."

He added, "It's been a gard slog, but I have a lot of people supporting me, so it's all been worth it."

The ride, which opened in 1969, is one of Llandudno's top tourist attractions and rises to a height of 651ft.
