Camping North Wales | Snowdonia, Anglesey and the Llyn Peninsula





Camping North Wales offers a wealth of opportunities for exploring the great outdoors. From the mountains of Snowdonia to the Llyn Peninsula and Anglesey you'll find getting closer to nature easier than ever. There are many types of campsite within North Wales from organised sites to areas that are little more than fields with a tap.




Many visitors looking to camp in North Wales head for the obvious areas around Snowdon and Llanberis. The area offers not only the fantastic scenery of the Snowdonia National Park with its excellent walks but is also close enough to a number of large towns and North Wales many tourist attractions to ensure that should the weather turn nasty there's always something to do.

The biggest attraction in the area is Mount Snowdon, the tallest peak in England and Wales. There are numerous walks up to the summit and the views from the top on a clear day are unrivaled. If you don't fancy the walk to the summit the Snowdon Mountain Railway runs throughout the summer months and is a great way to get to the top.

Anglesey is a large island located just off the north coast of Gwynedd and is connected to the mainland via the Menai and Britannia Bridges. Anglesey has lots of great campsites and some great beaches. There is a walking route around the island and some great attractions along the way such as Beaumaris Castle and Wylfa Power Station. If you're stopping off in Holyhead you can always take the ferry on a day trip to Ireland and explore the capital city of Dublin.

The Llyn Peninsula is located to the west of Snowdonia and is a very popular location for watersports. There are numerous camp sites close to the major towns of Pwhelli, Abersoch, and Criccieth. The larger town of Porthmadog is located nearby with the excellent Ffestiniog Railway which travels up the valley to Blaenau Ffestiniog.

Further inland many visitors to North Wales visit the area around Bala for their camping. Bala is a centre for excellence for water sports and white water rafting. The mountains of southern Snowdonia also provide excellent opportunities for walking and camping in North Wales.

The area around Snowdonia provides an excellent mixture of teriffic countryside and great facilities for camping. North Wales is a beautiful place to visit and explore.
