Bala - North Wales Snowdonia National Park

Bala is located within the Snowdonia National Park and is an ideal base for touring North and Mid Wales' Mountains, Valleys and Coasts.

It's lake, Llyn Tegid, also know as Bala Lake is the largest natural lake in Wales and is also home to the unique fish called the Gwyniad, a kind of land-locked herring. The lake is one of the most popular sailing venues in the country, and holds regular regattas.

Bala is an attractive and lively historic market town, which has links with early American history. You can follow the historical Town Walk, visit the famous male voice choir at their rehearsals, or enjoy a trip on the narrow gauge steam train.

Bala Lake Railway is one of the greatest little trains of Wales; the train takes you on a 9-mile return journey along the shore of the lake and offers you views of the surrounding mountains and countryside.

There are opportunities for shooting game or clays, fly fishing, mountain climbing, walking, cycling or try one of the 4-wheel drive courses. There are also many activities that take place on the lake.
