AmlwchAmlwch is situated on the northeastern corner of Anglesey and is a small town with a long history of working tradition. The Catholic Church, Our Lady Star of the Sea, reflects the area's seafaring traditions, and is built in the shape of an overturned keel of a boat. Visitors can explore the industrial workings of Parys Mountain copper mines. These mines have been worked since the Bronze Age 4000 years ago. During the 18th century it was the largest copper mine in the world. The underground workings were last mined in the early part of the 20th century, but some areas of the mine have been reopened for exploration. There are many walks along the coastal paths from Point Lynas to Amlwch Port, or fishing and golf are popular with visitors. The local leisure centre has a swimming pool and other activities for you too, whilst on Fridays there is a local market to explore.
