Abergele
Abergele is situated on the North Coast of Wales, near to the holiday resorts of Towyn and Rhyl.
Traditionally a historic market town, Abergele is situated 3/4 of a mile from the beach, and is sheltered on the south by the thickly wooded Tower Hill. In its 15th Century parish church, St. Michael's, scratches on the pillars were allegedly made by Roundheads sharpening their swords during the 17th Century Civil War.
Abergele boasts a leisure centre, an 18 hole golf course set in parkland in a scenic setting and a trout fishery in the countryside at nearby Moelfre. Adjoining Abergele is Pensarn, which is popular with families for its award winning beach, amusements and children's rides.
Nearby is the Grade 1 listed building, Gwrych Castle, which Lloyd Hesketh Bamford-Hesketh built in memory of his maternal ancestors in 1819. Queen Victoria stayed at Gwrych during 1832.
